Little Hunter

Guys heres a little hunter ,I would like some advice on what might make this a better hunter for use and for show.So Please feel free to tell me what you think might make it better.

Kevin... I like how narrow the handle is. I'm going to start doing that on some knives.  I've been told by a number of trad bow hunters who like to crawl around a lot, that a narrow handle like that is a big benefit for that kind of hunting.  I sit up in a tree stand, so I don't mind a wider, chunky handle...

Put a short drop on the point and change the angle of the last 1/8th  of the blade to provice a bit steeper angle for skinning.  It looks like a great knife as it is so these changes would be fairly small.

Scott I don't know what you think the handle width is ,but I  measured it, its .68 " wide
I did that to get ballance and correct(physical and visual)

I'm just looking at the profile relative to the blade looking towards the edge.  The knives I've been making are more rounded where yours is more flattened and would sit against a hip much nicer. More streamlined.

Very, very nice, clean beautiful work.

I like to know what type of steel it is, and a photo of the sheath before I make up my mind on a custon knife. The reason I say sheath is it is part of the package! Bo Randall knew this when he started years ago. Thanks, Ken

Kevin,
       I have to take my hat off to you on this knife. It has all of the bases covered as far as I can see in the pictures. You need to have it critiqued for your JS test, in my opinion. It is nice. Very nice.

FYI, Kevin has been working tirelessly at making knives now for a couple of years steadily getting better and better. He and I have talked in person on several occassions with him showing me and other makers his work and accpting the critique offered when he asks for it. Some might not fully understand why he would subject himself to that. Well, this is why. So he can force himelf to make the best knife that he can, but go the additional step of making it technically as close to perfect as possible. He's that kind of a knife maker and has my respect for it. Lin

Thanks Ken,The steel is 5160.I am not trying to sell the knife therefore didn't say anything about sheath or steel.I was more talking about the apperance of the knife.My sheaths are hunting sheaths and not very good quality anyway.

Hey Kevin,
     Nice looking knife. I like the angle of the choil. You got it proportioned to the blade edge and the tang well. You really took your time on this one. I need to stop and see it.
           
    As well as sharpen some knives for elk season. Ha
