Spalted maple, Antler and Mother of Pearl

Here are some i've done in the past weeks
First one is forged 1084 with spalted maple. Let me know if you think the recosso is to wide, i think it is.
 
 

Second one is forged 1084 with a little buck
 
 

Last one is stock removal 1095 with mother of pearl

I think the ricasso on the first one is perfect for that style of blade.  It looks well balanced to the blade length and makes a nice transition into the guard.

I don't know what a ricasso is but I think it looks pretty cool on all three.

That ricasso is perfect, Dana.
That is a really sweet job on the top knife.
I also really like the radiused leading corners on your guards.
That should be a 'friendly' area, and many times those hard, sharp corners just offend me somewhat.

Wonder where you got that idea.......

I've always liked his work so I thought I would use a little ( hope he don't mind)
I've made a photo box but I still have some work to do on  it but I think my pictures are alittle better

Great work. I noticed the improved photos immediately.  When shooting, always fill the frame from edge to edge. Your bolsters/ricasso are all very close to the center and seem to be a focal target when you are composing the shot. This may also be due to the fact that your camera is mounted on a tripod and all the shots are at the same angle. Try composing the frame with the camera off the pod, find what looks best, then move the pod to that position.

I have taught many photo students so I hope this is helpful. I applaude how you are constantly working on improving all of your knifemaking and photo skills. What is your light source?

I like them all, but the first is my favorite! I made one like that some time ago with a Coffin handle design.

I would take a picture but my daughter ran the battery down,
just take a cardboard box and cut a 12x12 hole on both sides and top, put some white paper over the holes( paper like you put in a gift, then put white poster board inside, put lights on the outside of the box, let it shine through the paper
