Potomac Forge Capeing knife
« on: October 23, 2010, 11:07:00 PM »
Here is my latest project forged from a old Nicholeson file. 8.5 inches OAL, 3.5 inch blade.
Claybacked for the quench and shows a nice temper line.  Flaired finger guard. A random pattern file work on the spine. Burl handle, used Potassium Permangnate instead of stain and WATCO Danish oil finish.

that knife looks better everytime i look at it.  the wood is some striped maple i had left over from a hawk handle that i traded steve for some work he did for me.  hoping i have a little more in my wood bucket.

Nice looking piece.  I love the color you got from the potassium permanganate.

That is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.  From the standpoint of someone who just started my first knife last week I stand amazed at what is possible.

Wow, nice to see this one back up!  Well my wife claimed this one so I made a special sheath, the hart is a piece from a old whitetail shead. Basswood lined.

Sorry about the less than good background for the photo.
