So here are some pictures of my third Forging.

 

 

 

 

So i have alot of questions. I think i am forging the blade down too thin.Also i am leaving alot of divots in the metal from the hammer but that comes as i learn hammer control i believe. Also whats the best way to smooth and straighten out the spine? I have a 3 lb cross peen that i use for extruding the material but use the lighter ball peen on the more delicate work on the blade.

Also any advice on forging the point on the knife would be appreciated i cant seem to be able to get a point on it. I tried putting it on the edge of the "anvil" and beating it down but when i hammered it back out it split the end.

Your forging is inspiring   .  I just picked up an anvil today and am still gathering stuff to finish up my forge.  Hopefully I'll be doing like you are before too much longer.  I can't answer your questions, but one thing I've found really helpful is watching videos online.  There are several forging ones on youtube and some of them are really information driven-the guy will talk a lot about what he's doing, why, etc.  You might be able to find some that help give some specifics to your forging.  That and I'm sure the smart ones on here will be along to help you out.  Good luck and keep posting-it's fun to see your progress.
