Found an old Bear long bow. What's it worth?
« on: February 03, 2007, 05:47:00 PM »
Found an old Bear Longbow on an auction today,  I was wondering if any of you collectors know what it's worth.

Bear Glass Powered Polar
 "R"
"MR923"
64"  54#
1953

I was  very excited-  it came with a pile of old arrows, an old homemade feather burner, a couple of old fletchers and some other odds and ends.
If this thing could speak,  I bet it would have some stories to tell me...

Can you show us the bow?  The Polar is not one of the highly sought after Bears, you should be able to pick it up real reasonable.

I've got a Polar that I got for about $35 on eBay. I like it. I took the ratty leather off the handle and  shoot it with just the wood handle.

Polars don't bring much money but they shoot well. 54 lbs is a good hunting weight. Check it over and get yourself a new string and have fun.

Pics would help with dating it. I have a 1952-1953 that is 70lbs draw. Shoots nice!
