I have used some of the wax covered pieces of cocobolo, rose wood, bacote and kingwood. I used a band saw to trim the wax off and cut the scales to rough size then let it sit in my shop for a couple weeks before I used it.  I would like to say the delay was to let the wood acclimate to my shop (which I think it should before you use it) but it was really because it just took me that long to get back in the shop to use it.

The wax is a non-issue since it will come off with the first cut or grind. The fact that it is waxed means it is not stabilized. That may be ok if it is dried well, but only the supplier can tell you that. If you decide to go ahead with the project, when it's finished, you might consider a super glue finish or seal it good to keep moisture from going in or out of it.

ok.. that helps to know. umm well i guess we might cut it to size and let it sit awhile, or leave whole and let sit awhile. thanks!

I would cut it oversize then let it acclimate. Also try not to overheat it when grinding for it might shrink some as it cools. There are also online tutorials on doing home stabilizing which, when combIned with a superglue sealer, will render good and stable results.
