So i havent posted any updates lately so i thought i would today.
This is a pic from a rrspike to my first knife all the way to one i did today.

The last one i did a little different and i think i am going to like it the best i still have to shape the bevels then harden it.
I will break down the process a little so you will understand what i mean by different. Typically i start by twisting the handle. When i twist it i line up the corner of the spike with the edge of the blade. I read this on a tutorial by bill epps. he does it but hes a pro and knows more than i. After some deliberation i decided this is where my knives started going wrong. some of them have turned out ok. This last one i just extruded it out, no twists and shaped it. i have more control when i leave the square on edge to the blade. it allows me to decide where i want it thinner or thicker.
I also took my time when forging this one out. I have less divots in the actual material. It may actually make an almost pretty knife. the reason i took my time is i had no plan going into this knife what i was going to do. It is quite a long blade. I like a more slender blade. I seem to have more control when there is less to mess up as well. but there is also
Another reason i did this today is i wanted to test my limits and the limits of my forge. I learnt something useful. I am only limited by myself. if i need to do longer stuff i can mound up the coal and crank up the volume on the hair dryer. i even got a lawn mower blade heated up and cut in half....Now if i had something to do with it. A lawn mower blade would make a vicious chopper. maybe a decent wrapped hawk. but ineed to make a hot chisel first. so thats on my future to do list.
