Help - In which order : Stain - fill craks - soak in oil?

Hi, getting close to finishing my 2nd knife (handle) and the wood has a couple of "cracks" in it.

I was wondering which is the correct order of the work.

I'm guessing :

1. Stain the wood
2. Fill cracks with epoxy/araldite
3. Soak in oil and finish

Can someone tell me if this is way off?

Also, will the araldite react to the oil?

some guys use thin coats of cyanoacrylate (super glue) to fill cracks and as a final finish.

Thanks, but I want to try an oil finish.

Tried superglue on my last knife, but had a lot of trouble getting an even layer.
And when I tried to sand down, the glue turned white, then I turned mad  :p

I had the same experience with CA glue turning white when sanded... Don't worry about it, after you get it sanded smooth you can hit it with a buffing wheel and carnuba wax and all is good. That what I did on my last knife and it turned out NICE.
