new primos blind
« on: January 29, 2008, 12:43:00 PM »
Anyone have a chance to check out the Primos ground max blind?  I just got my Cabela's turkey hunting catalog and saw it in there.  Has Predator camo and is same size as DB Matrix.  Wondering how the quality is.  Thanks...Mike

yeah, this isn't a double bull.  The Primos Double bull's are still called double bull.  This one is called the Primos Ground Max Predaor Den.  Was wondering if it is built with same quality as the Double Bull's.  Guess I'll have to head to Cabelas to check it out...Mike

I am sure the quality is good, the price looks good as well. The windows seemed small, let me know what you thought after seeing one in person. I am sure this is a way that people can still get the predator camo and a DB blind.
The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't are both right!!!

I have the ground max made before primos bought them out.At the ATA show it seemed that hadn't changed a thing compared to mine, but if they've swiched to predator thats awesome.Mine seemed to do pretty well up against the birds what little I got to try last spring.Glare wasn't too bad either.I qwould suggest getting the larger model or shoot a shorter bow around 54" and under.windows were negotiable too.Hope this helps.   :goldtooth:

Thanks guys, I'll keep you posted when I get to see one.

New to Trad, do you know the dimentions of your blind?  This one is 77"x77" and 66" center height.  I believe that is about the same as the standard DB Matrix.  Recurve model was 7" higher in center.

I checked out the blind today.  It is a really nice blind, seems to be a steal at $130.  Material is similar to DB matrix, predator not shiny.  Well made blind.  Only wish it came in a recurve height, and the center window on each sides is a bit too high.  I took a Savannah off the rack and crawled in the blind.  In order to shoot out the middle window the upper limb kept hitting the roof on me.  I'm gonna think on it for a couple days, may just end up with a DB, yet...Mike

fireman, I've been trying to do that for a year or so now.  I'm never lucky enough to find one in there.  Have you seen the blind I'm talking about?  Seems like a nice blind, specially for the price...Mike

mooseman, no, not sure which blind you are referring to. I got this matrix for $120 off, in the "cave", called DB, paid shipping on replacement poles and it's good as new...just got the parts today from ups!!!!  Awesome customer service at Double Bull!!!

If you check out cabela's site (they got em in store this week) it is called something like primo ground max predator den.  Looks like the ground max blinds of years past, but nicer material and predator camo...Mike

Let me give you a little bit of a review on the new Primo's Double Bull blind called

  " Dark House "

It is the same style blind, Hub, and it is half matrix and half T 5, the camo pattern is a pretty decent pattern it looks like a safari suit.  Although now it's made by Primo's, and their choices of who does the work on them, the one that we have on display I have noticed, that they did not use camo pattern for the window covers, they do have camo pattern screened shoot through netting, and you have 180 degree matrix part of the blind, the screened netting is removable, on some of the viewing windows, the screened netting is not sewn and properly in some places, could be just that blind.  The blind I noticed is about two or 3 in. taller, it still has a zipper open V shape event at the top of the blind.  The newer style hub, is a better hub then what was on the older blinds, is more durable and stronger, the dark House, is about 2 lbs. lighter than the matrix.  The blind is just as easy to set up, and is still $399.99.  I purchased one because of the safari suit camo pattern.  It looks like it will be a very good camo pattern, because the FACT deer see in black-and-white.  The viewing windows on this blind are 1 1/2 inches wider than the ones on the old T 5, which makes it better for shooting traditional bows out of any of the windows.  The material is a heavy-duty poly cotton, and is waterproof, and will last a lot longer than your average nylon blind, it also does not have any sheen to it.  I think overall the blind is a good blind, for right now.

Later down the road you never know what Primo's is going to change it.  That's why purchased one, because it still had Double Bulls influence on.

I talked with Brooks, last week Thursday, that's when I purchased my new blind, he hunts pretty much all traditional these days, so the blind is set up with a traditional hunter in mind.  I didn't get to shoot his dark Archer, but I was able to take a look at it, and it looks like it's a fine bow, for the blind.  Although, I have taken a long bow, Bear Montana 64", I was able to draw and have plenty of room, shooting forwards, 20 Degrees Either Way from straightforward was still okay in that blind, although you do have to watch how close your top limb is to the roof, one you release you could hit the top of the roof.  With a 62" or under, it should work out fine.  You just be cautious with 64" and above.

I'm looking forward to using my new blind, and my new " whip " 62" this year.
