This knife is dubbed the Ironwood "Mesabi".
For those who do not know, the Mesabi Iron Range in Northern Minnesota, discovered in 1866, is "THE" chief deposit of iron ore in the United States.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesabi_Range It is unlikely that any maker or collector on this board or many other boards, does not have or has not made at least one knife with steel originating with the iron ore of the Mesabi Iron Range.
Being a country boy with roots running DEEP in the wonderment of Northern Minnesota, I named this knife after my home.
She was forged from W2 with some clay treatment for a distinctive hamon, a stainless guard for protection and a really, really sweet piece of Ironwood for the take-down handle.
She's a handful, and should take care of any moose, elk or griz that comes along.
See ya' in Atlanta.
