First forged knife
« on: June 28, 2011, 08:01:00 AM »
Forged this one out of a bar of 1084 using a 2 brick forge and a post anvil.  Been wanting to try the paracord wrap for a little while, so I thought this one would be a good one to give it a shot on.  It's not nearly as nice to look at as a piece of spalted wood, but dang it feels nice in my hand.

Thanks guys.  It may not look like it, but I've got a ton of time wrapped up in this one with all the filing and grinding I did.  I managed to hammer a very basic profile of it, but it was very crude.  I've got a lot of work to do before I can get to where I can do most of my shaping with the hammer.  I really need to free up some time and go spend a day in a knifesmith's shop.
