Split B-Bear Tooth repair method?
« on: August 03, 2011, 10:11:00 AM »
Gents...

I have some black bear canines that have split in the traditional way...the gap is ~1/32 of an inch at the business end of eath tooth.

Does anybody have a method for either filling the gap or pulling the gap back closer together that looks good...and not "repaired"?

Many thanks in advance!

Trad,

Im not sure how to fix. i would guess you can fill with epoxy and maybe paint them. I do know that you can get some black bear canines through one of the taxidermy supplers, like Mckinzies.

you can get epoxy dyes from places like woodcraft. Play with color (it doesn't take much). A little patients and a piece of blue painter tape on the outside will go far. lightly sand the exposed epoxy with a fine emery sponge (also a woodcraft thing) then dip them in some sort of sealer. this is what i did on a wart hog tusk i made into a knife handle for a buddy.
