Michigan Bear Hunting Information Needed
« on: January 29, 2008, 11:59:00 PM »
Ok, I know it is a little early.  In 2009 me and my dad will have enough preference points to draw bear tags for the first season.  Does anyone here bait bears in MI or know a good guide that caters to bowhuntig?
Sights, SIGHTS, we don't need no stinkin sights!!!!!

If Geronimo shot a Black Widow, you would be speaking Apache.

Bait or dogs? What unit are you in? Just because you have points, getting drawn is not always a sure thing (personal experiece, hope this is my year too). If you are interested in dogs, contact the Michigan Bear Hunters Association. Their members will take you out just to be able to run there dogs most times. Some will charge you a fee. If you would rather sit over bait, I'd contact the local Chamber and get a listing of resorts in the area. The resort owners can put you in touch with some local guys that will bait a few stands for you. I'd bring my own tree stands too, just incase. One last thing, sometimes you will see ads in the back of Michigan Sportsman or Michigan Outdoors for bear guides.

Get ahold of me and I will give you the name and number of a reputable guide in the Barraga unit with a great success rate.I went with him twice and would highly recomend him. His camp is archery only and you stay at primitive campgound.
