Dont know if you resolved your Randall issues but I would go with a 25-5. I've had several 25s but regret selling the one with the micarta handle. A near perfect knife. I use an older 11-5 now. They had more drop and point than now.

Still use the 3-5 my dad gave me 33 years ago for Christmas. Cost then 80 bucks!

For what it's worth, I got Jason Randall started in Trad bowhunting last year- gave him a Schafer Silvertip !

This thread introduced me to the Randall. I like the 25-5. Googled it and got to look at a few. One for sale here in the classifieds, but a bit much money-wise right now. It's on the list, though and I'm an impatient sort. Be nice to have on the belt this Fall me thinks...

I have a Randall 25-6 and it is my general carry knife-I love it for that purpose.  I ordered a 26-4 5 years ago and it came 2 weeks before my first grandson-saving it for him. I also carry a swafford autumn hunter for dressing game-unsurpassed for that task.  The swafford is very close in size and shape to the Randall model 26.

I have a Randal simply because I think someone who likes knives should own a bit of history and there is no denying the place Randal has in knife history. I don't find them as well finished as many equal or less expensive custom knives, but an o-1 blade, properly heat treated, should handle any task. I haven't used mine and won't. I carry one of my own knives. I do put one on order each year, though. Each year I get a notice my knife is ready, I pay for it and turn an instant $100 profit. When they stop appreciating, and I'm sure they will eventually, I'll quit buying them and keep the 25-5 I got first.

The Model 11-4 "Alaskan Skinner",the Model 20-5 "Yukon Skinner", the Model 21  "Little Game", and the Model 25-5 "Trapper" are my favorite Randall knives. The 25-5 "Trapper" says Randall like no other knife in the Randall line. The one thing I'll say about Randall is they hold their value like few others and that will be true for years to come. You can't say that about most of the $500 knives that show up today. Its all about marketing my friends, and Randall has one heck of a head start.
