Tribal Hunting sword {Sheath pics added}
« on: December 29, 2011, 10:46:00 PM »
This is a 20" short sword that I started some time ago. This is the longest blade I have done yet, and is almost the max for my kiln. It is pretty much finished at this point but here are some progress pics. It should make a nice pig sticker!!

Rough ground

Heat treated and antiqued, ready for a handle

All glued up

Roughed out

Ready for oil

All finished up!

Ben, that is awesome! Looks like it has a Stewart Branson influence. You are on the fast track like Kevin Evans, Scott Roush and Dana Holman and Stewart!

Beautiful Work!

Don't put me in the same boat as those guys, I can barely swim! I just hope to be "good" by the time I retire.

Ben, that is no pig sticker... that there is a hog sticker, and it looks long enough to hold the hod in place to a tree,

That is really nice looking, good job.

The hole was just a filler pin for extra strength, it got covered up by the hemp wrap.

Thanks guys.
I used new 5160 bar stock for this one, and for all of my larger blades.

I used epoxy on the wrap, and yes it is applied after I wrap the handle.
