stabilized spalted maple
« on: March 20, 2012, 02:50:00 PM »
I took some spalted maple and used some wood hardner heated in jar in dutch oven with water until bubbles started rising in the wood hardner.let it do that for about 30 minutes then selaed the jar and pop the jar sealed then about a week later opened the jar.  my question is i weighed a piece before hand and it weighed 12 grams then after the process it weighed 27 grams.  had any one ever weighed theirs before and would that be about right for a stabilized piece of wood. i enjoy  doing everything on a knife from start to finish including the holster.
