Need Help Brazing Bronze
« on: May 24, 2012, 11:17:00 AM »
I need to braze a screw to a bronze butt cap. I have only brazed stainless to stainless and was suprised how hot I had to get the pieces the first time I tried it. I compared melting temps and bronze melts at approximately 1500F less than steel.

How do I know when the bronze it hot enough?Should I use a brass screw? I have 1/16" copper and 1/8" bronze brazing rods in addition to the finer steel wire I use for stainless. Which should I use?
