DIY scale replacement?

I've got a gerber fixed blade that I'd like to dress up a little. I'm thinking a cocobolo scale replacement would be pretty cool. Is this something I can take on myself or should I consult a professional?

have done dozens, go for it ....just take the time to finish it ....dont rush. It's how a lot of knifemakers get started.
