Some dress sheaths

My cousin asked me to make a few dress sheaths for his small collection of Randall's. I'd never handled any and they feal very nice in the hand.
He ordered the rosewood handle'd bowie while on his first tour in southeast asia. It had a leather handle but the damp finally got the best of it. The bowies have both been refurbished by Randall, the hunter is 80's era and not used.

Jeff, I would have done all of them that way but having a strap or braiding on the edge side of the sheath makes me nervous. Way easyer to replace the straps than a braid  :D  I sure cut a lot of those snap straps on sheaths as a kid running the blade back in.

I'm pretty sure my cousin has something in mind getting these sheaths. I didn't ask what. Just figured I'd find out down the road.

I've had lots of work like this used, it holds up pretty good. The carving takes on a whole different look when worn that some like even better.

The lining in this type sheath is what I wonder about, it would wear out first. I have my own opinions on lined sheaths but the customer is always right.

Those are beautiful and functional, Robin, like the ones you made that hold two of my knives! There is nothing that better compliments an outstanding knife than one of your amazing sheaths.

I'm thrilled to be a part of those "really worthy causes" and thrilled to have you and others contribute the amazing knives, sheaths and other items that bring in the bids. I was disappointed to miss out on that dandy little sharpening steel you donated to the last St. Jude auction, but glad to end up with your gorgeous sheath that was wrapped around Doug Campbell's fantastic Bowie knife. Someday I'm going to have the privilege of meeting you face-to-face.

Dougs Bowie is one thats gonna stick in my mind along time. I got to build that sheath with Doug and Karen right here in my little shop. It don't get any better than that.

The aution is one of the highlites of the year for me. I can't beleive how folk step up for St Jude and bid on wore out chain saw files like that steel I put on there. This crew is really something and I jump at the chance to meet any one of them. People like those on this site renew my faith in this country on a daily basis.
