What would be a good stainless steel for bolsters that can be worked without any machining equipment? Any cutting/shaping will have to be done with a band saw, and a grinder or file. I've been using some aluminum that was given to me for the few bolstered knives I've tried so far. The aluminum has been great for practice, but i'm getting ready to build a couple of knives for someone else and I want something that is a little sturdier. I would prefer some type of steel over nickle silver if there is something I can work with the tools I have now. I also saw where USA knife maker has wrought iron. How hard is this to work with?
Thanks,
Matt Toms
