Just finished a couple
« on: May 13, 2013, 08:28:00 PM »
First up is a rebuild (more of a resurrection) of a beaten, broken, but not dead Puma Pony slip joint.

Started as this...

Then ended up like this...

There is a complete journal of the work posted on Blade Forums in the Traditional area, if your interested.

Also finished this one up today, a sloyd knife.  Designed for whittling, wood carving, shop use and such.  Sloyd knife translates to Handy knife.  Originated in Finland.

1084 1 3/8" edge.
Bronze guard soldered, myrtle wood from my late grandfathers wood shop.  58-60 hRc.

I don't remember if I showed this set here or not, hawk and belt knife.  W1 blade, bronze guard, mesquite handle.  1084 hawk head.

xander, did you save the extra back spring? You can make another complete single blade off the same pattern. Good job.

Good job Xander. That rebuild looked to be a complete loss.  I am glad you restored it. Thanks for sharing.

Lin, I did save the pen blade spring and middle liner, I do plan to make a companion as well.  I really like this single blade teardrop shape, its a good size and feel in hand.  I just wish I would have taken an accurate pattern for the tang to save myself the time of building a rise/fall indidcator for this pattern.  I don't have a universal one.

Thanx guys, much appreciated!
