In my opinion 15n20 is one the best/most durable carbon steels out there. It holds its edge forever and is super durable even in thin cross sections. I think L6 or 8670m (admiral's equivalent)is a good alternative and is available in thicker sizes.
I have just about a lifetime supply of L6/8670M in the form of 24" circular saw blades and it is what I use for almost all of my utility knives, hunters and everything in between. I love the stuff.
