small damascus hunter
« on: June 12, 2013, 06:18:00 PM »
Just finished this one as a donation for our rod & gun club fund raiser. I won't do a sheath until the winner is determined so I can know whether to make a right or left hand sheath.

This was made from a large piece of 52100, 5160 and 15N20 damascus. I didn't make the billet, but the chatoyance (see, I'm even improving my vocabulary on this site) is unreal. It looks like a really nice piece of fiddle-back maple with the stripes moving in the light.

Thanks Lin.

See, my handles are getting better since I bought one of yours to see what a good handle really feels like   :)

Ron, a great looking knife!  Very handy size.  The handle material is beautiful and shaped to fit the hand!

Super looking knife! Is that ironwood burl handle?

Bodork, it's stabilized redwood burl. I picked up 4 blocks almost identical to this one for a really good price. 3 of them will go on a set of smaller utility knives - a small one for my younger son, smaller yet for his wife and a baby bear sized one for my 6-year old granddaughter (which she won't get until my son is comfortable with giving it to her).
