Mig welding for knife making question
« on: January 18, 2014, 08:20:00 PM »
What is a minimum welder, mid range, that I would need for mig welding Damascus billets and handles, jigs and tools?

Gabe - if you that is all you are going to do with it you can get away with something rather light duty.  I will ask my buddy that owns my shop what he would buy for this type welding.

I know how to use them but do not know make or model numbers to give suggestions off hand.

99% of our equipment is Miller but Lincoln and Hobart also make reliable units that will serve you well if you are looking at prices and comparison shopping.

Miller makes a baby stick welder you can plug into a wall outlet that would work fine for this as well.  Not sure if you can hook up a squirt gun and gas to this unit but I can find that out too.
