First sliplock attempt
« on: May 02, 2014, 05:32:00 AM »
Took a break from the orders and this is my first attempt at a slip lock. Used a off cut piece from the feather Damascus I made for the bowie. Handle is maple burl and brass. Need to replace the pivot pin as it's loose and the brass doesn't match. Mechanics came out fine with a nice half-stop and walk and talk. Still lots to learn though but challenging and fun.

Cheers

That is outstanding!  I really want to make a nice folder one day for personal carry but at this point I don't have the time for all the perfection necessary.  Really, really cool.

I think my first attempt will be to replace the blade in my Benchmade 905 that has been clipped to my pocket since 98' It has been sharpened and used so much the blade is like 80% of its original shape/size.

Nicely done on the half stop. Brings back   memerories    ;)   Does it have a good snap to it?

I like it.  Looking at the top picture, I think that would be a great design for a fixed blade.

Smaller than I though from the pics just over 2 1/4" blade.
Hope the little one is doing better.
