Subhilt with African Blackwood and stainless

This blade should get a handle this weekend. It will be a subhilt similar to one or two from the past couple years. The blade is 10 inches.

I am a sucker for twisted Ws. I think it's stunning and doesn't receive the compliments it deserves.

Every time you post that Damascus pattern I am reminded why it is one of my favorites.
Wicked looking blade, long clip and subtle recurve..........looking forward to seeing this one finished.

Really cool looking, Lin. ESPECIALLY the pattern along the edge. I'm also a fan of your long clips...

I can't remember if I've asked you this before, sorry if I have: how do you deal with recurves on a flat platen? I like the look as well as the function, but I have difficulty in keeping the edge the same thickness as the rest of the blade edge. If I hold it road against the platen, the recurve portion is automatically thicker than the other parts. Also, I run into some problems when at the end stages of sharpening on a stone. The stone is flat (like the platen), so I try to use the edge of the stone and still have some trouble being consistent with it. I feel like if I try using the edge of the platen, it'd be a recipe for disaster and big gouges from the belt...

Again, sorry if this is a repeat from before. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

Of all the damascus patterns I've seen on your knives, this is the one I like the most. Really like the profile of the blade too. Can't wait to see what you have in mind for the finished knife.
