Brass stock source
« on: February 25, 2016, 09:33:00 PM »
I'm kinda new to knife making, I have made two small hunting knives so far. I'm attempting to make a cleaver and it's all ready to fit the handle. I want to use 1/4" brass for pins but I'm having trouble sourcing it. If someone knows where to find it, would you please PM me? I want to get this finished up and I'll post pics when I do. Thanks

You may be able to find that at your local hardware store. Find the metal supply section and a lot of the time, they'll have mixed stuff in there including standard mild steel stock along with a bit of stainless and brass in various dimensions. Hope it works out for you.

Try an Industrial supply like McMaster -Carr they have all kinds of metal you can buy in small amounts.

Most of the knife supply houses like Knife & Gun Finishing, or Jantz Supply carry quite a selection of brass and nickel silver bars.

Try "Speedy metals" if you have no luck at the hardware store.
They have just about every size brass rod

Thanks for the suggestions. Reckon I'll have to go the online route, the biggest I can find in any hardware store is 1/8" diameter.
