Laying them out ready for glue

gluing

checking final fit in limb press

into the hot-box

ready to be stripped from form

both limbs out and ready for working
more later...

Looks excellent...I will be trying a bingham T/D in a couple weeks, so this is great to see.
Can you tell us what the riser is made of?

Good morning all!
The materials are walnut micarta & paduak.
Okay here we go with more photos...

1st stringing, the initial brace hight was within limits and I found which limb was heavier, now I know which way is north and which is south!

These limb tips are really "do overs" but came out great!

Now it's time to start shaping the riser...AWWW...grinders...I'm home!

Rounding out the flats and removing most of the blocky edges.

more shaping...you can really see the saw dust in the air. I need a better vacuum system.

After quite a bit of hand work,the riser is all but final finished with 320 grit sand paper.

Putting the final spray coating on. Now I have to give it 3 days drying time.

WOW, you can really see how dirty my shop is from this photo...Sorry Dano!
Ok, we are done with the drying and now it's on to a light rubbing with #000 steel wool. And then final checks for fit!
Note: This is one of those times when it hard being a dyed in the wool "lefty" I can't shoot the bow. Sux but true, I tried, we don't even want to talk about how bad it was...My Son came over and test shot if for me.
But now the bow is on it's way to Dano's

There, I nice finished picture on Dano's clean work bench!

And Dano trying my new bow out! He said it shoots pretty good!
So it's off to be my son-in-laws Christmas present!

I forgot to give the details of the bow.
It's made of Walnut, Paduak, Micarta spacers.
It pulls 44#'s @ 28" which is a little light. I am finding now after two of these bows that they are coming in a little light. The next one I build, I will order the next higher poundage so I can reduce down to the weight I want rather than end up light and can't do anything about it!
I don't know how many hours it took, it's too broke up for me to have that figured out. But like knife making, I can feel myself falling victim to yet another passion!

Nice job on the Bow and pictorial, your shop looks like a workin man's shop to me, ain't nothin wrong with that. I will have to come over soon to see for my self. I am quite sure your son in law is going to love the bow.

Other than it having deeper grain pours, no.
It shaped well and took sanding well, and seems to be holding the finish coats well too.

Bring over all the fixen's you want, we can store them and use them whenever!
Jeremy, my grinders are the result of my other passion...knife making. Been at that craft for about 16 years.
