I'm trying to refinish a Knight recurve and extra set of limbs I bought from Doug in about 1986.  Plan on using catalyzed urethane which will give me either a high gloss if I finish rubbing it out or non gloss if I stop at the 2000 grit stage.

Wondering if this will adhere to whatever he used?  Should I treat the wood with something prior.

Thanks,
I tried regular paint stripper the other day and it didn't work.
