What shelf depth is best for shooting off shelf.
« on: February 04, 2009, 09:32:00 AM »
What is the preferred shelf depth for a bow?  I have a hoyt dorado with a shelf that is cut way past center and I need to build it out some.  I am tired of always having to guess at what spine to use because the bow is so far past center and I don't want to use a plunger.

Thanks in advance

start by bringing it out to center, anything past center will cause you the same spine problems. You didn't say what your draw weight is or what your arrow material is

Oh sorry.

My draw weight is 53# and I am shooting two arrows.

1.  Grizzly stick Alaskans

2. 2117 Easton Aluminum

I usually bear shaft tune adjusting with different weight tips.

In a perfect world I would like to shoot 150 grains up front.
