Eastern Shawnee Bow Design??????
« on: February 13, 2009, 03:26:00 PM »
I grew up in Mason County West Virginia 9 Miles from Point Pleasant.  I was always fascinated by the history of that area, and just last week started thinking about Chief Cornstalk and the Battle of Point Pleasant.  That thought sparked a desire to build a bow like Chief Cornstalk would have hunted with.  I have the Bowyer's Bible that covers the dimensions of a Cherokee Bow, but was wondering if the Shawnee would have used a different design or not.  BTW - From all the research I have done, Chief Cornstalk would have been a man I would have liked to have shared the deer and turkey woods with in the 1770's.  He was also a man of HONOR!  It is a real shame we dishonored him by murdering he and his son.

Anyway enough of that Historical rantings.  LOL!!!  Anyone done any research you would care to share about the hunting bows of the Shawnee.

Bert my tall friend, I would love to coax a bow from a choke cherry stave.  When you coming up my way next??  Let me know, and maybe we can meet for lunch or at least coffee.
