Anyone shoot tighter groups when bareshafting?
« on: February 06, 2008, 08:47:00 AM »
Just wondering but it seemed like me and my buddies shot tighter groups when we were bareshafting our carbons. The arrows weren't the correct spine but the groups were closer together than with our fletched arrows. Is it us???

Dustin: I only shoot one bare shaft. However, it seems that it is often the most consistent shooting shaft I have. Sometimes I think that it just leaves the bow more cleanly  than fletched arrows. Either that or I just know when I am shooting it that I need to do everything right in order for it to hit where I want it to.

Sounds like some fletch contact issues, may need to address the spine more or possibly shoot a higher nock position or rotate the fletch around to see if they clear the riser better.  A properly spined and tuned shaft will shoot great of your bow with fletchings, but I do tend to have my bareshafts spine just a little weak and slightly nock high and get better clearance with the fletch.  Mark

When I bare shaft I think I pay more attention to my form and therefore do shoot better groups.RC

Mark has it right on. I like my bareshafts a bit weak. I am sure if ya do everything right the fletched will group better. Shawn
