First osage bow
« on: February 20, 2009, 03:02:00 PM »
Working on my first osage bow, going for 62" ntn, 1-3/8" wide for 1/2 limb tapering to 3/8" at nocks. I have worked back to single ring and roughed out shape and think I should be able to get 60#s out of it at 26". I split a 1" wide x 62" piece off stave when roughing bow out. Would I be able to get a 35-40# bow out of this scrap and am I on right track with 60# (I hope) bow.

Your bow should easily make 60#@26". The splinter might also make 60#@26" if you play your cards right...but yes you can make a 35# to 40# bow with it.     Pat
