Beginning string maker
« on: April 24, 2009, 03:43:00 PM »
I've just begun the process of making my own flemish strings.  I've made up a string board using a piece of oak my late father had glued up for another project.  Once I make sure it works, I'll post up some pics.

BTW, I feel like I should have some music on while I make these strings.  Any suggestions?  I kind of feel like Kramer and Newman did when they were making sausages.  (That's a Seinfeld reference, and for those of you who haven't seen it, look up "kramer making sausage" on youtube.)

Music issue is closed.  There are now three votes for bluegrass.  Nickle Creek is always good. Allison Krause too.

Man, you read my mind, pete!  Add a little Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder in there, and you'll be buildin' strings faster 'n snot!    :biglaugh:

I settled on some mountain dulcimer music.  I tried Ricky Skaggs, but got a little too worked up.  Anyone need a 60" 48 strand B-50 string?

Should have listened to alternative rock like the rest of us with ADD...you get skinny strings then.
