how to dry wood

Ok so i hjust ahve some short pieces of wood that i need dried. They are short enough to fit in my oven (they are pieces about 12"x6" diameter x about half way around is the largest) Anyway i was wonder at what temperature i should cook them and for how long? They are birch... Mo

You mean oven as in kitchen oven? I would not do that. Sounds dangerous. Jawge

I agree with George.  

Whole logs will take a long time to dry.  If you have specific needs, it's best to rough cut them and then allow to air dry.  If you want to force dry them, you might want to build a hot box.  About 100 degrees is pretty good for those.  Any hotter and you will ahve problems with the wood drying nevely.  Your kitchen oven probably can't be set that low.  Mine only goes to 170.
