Need a little help with T/D sleeve system
« on: May 25, 2009, 05:15:00 PM »
I've built plenty of 3 piece T/Ds, and hinged t/ds, but have never messed with the sleeve type. Just purchased a Wes Wallace "Royal T/D" which has the sleeve system. Need to know what the best way is to care for this. Seems to have some type lube on the sleeves, but feels tacky. Bow is hard to take apart.
Should it just be cleaned and left as bare metal? Or should I clean and lightly lube it? And with what?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated?
It's a really nice looking bow and shoots great.
Bolivian rosewood and Osage riser with Osage limbs. 66" 57lb @ 29" little light but great shooter.
Thanks,
Hal

I'd clean and polish and use some type of dry lube.

I agree with Dano. One of my self bows ended up with a sleeve-unplanned LOL! I use a dry teflon lube that is intended for bicycle chains in dry dusty weather.
