tell me about super glue as a sealer

I got my bow done and am in the process of sanding it out. I read on here that some use superglue instead of a sanding sealer or grain filler. This one is just action wood. what are my options? I thought of just sanding it down to around 12000 and spraying on a few coats of nitro laquer? Don

Heck if ya sand to 12000 any finish will work

I've heard of using smooth on as a sealer/grain filler too.

When using Fullerplast, I only sand through 220 grit!

You can usually just spray your first coat and sand it back down to level the pores.  I've never used action wood, but I would think it wouldn't require too much to fill.

Helmsman Spar Urethane from Lowes (rattle can). Not much on filling grain, but actionwood is usually pretty smooth. This stuff gives a armor tough finish. I like the satin finish, the semi-gloss is too shiny for me. Can't wait to see this bow Don.

I also sand to 220 when i use actionwood, apply a coat, sand back with 220 or even 320 then spray on a few light coats. Actionwood really sands nice, cant wait to see a picture.

Don,give Troy a call.A friend of ours makes and sprays cabinets and they spray bows for us on occasion.They refinished one of mine and several of Troys,i don't know what they use but it looks great and holds up.He would probly know what they use.Preston

Conversion Varnish works well.  Watch out though, one of the chemicals, (I cant spell it) will literally kill you so wear a good respirator if you spray conversion varnish.  

(As a note, conversion varnish for use in commercial applications is reason for the EPA to climb all over you in Ohio.  I dont know about other states.)

My dad is a cabinet maker and we have some out in the shop, but it's only for cabinets.

Yeah, I use superglue as a sealer. Wear a latex glove dribble some drops of glue and smear away. and it doesn't take that much at all to give a good seal and fill pores. Sand each application down with 220 then buff with 0000 steel wool before the next application. Most woods only take 2-3 applications and it only takes a few minutes to dry.
