first red oak bow done...
« on: June 03, 2009, 02:19:00 PM »
Hello guys here a few weeks ago a friend gave me this bow and he didn't know that he could make a bow from it so he gave it to me to work on it and to see if I could get a bow that would shoot.. Well when I got home from the show I was thinking of useing a backing of this bow because from the past from me making oak bows have never works out for me.. which in the end of 5 bows not working out I told my self never agin would I make a bow from oak.. well I lied to my self...
So I did my homework and said i think I will use that dry wall glass tape for the backing and I used TB2 for glue that nite found me out in the shop glueing up the backing.. the next morring at about 6am found me out in the shop takeing it off the form and I could not think how good this came out.. I then sanded the tape on the side down to the limb.. I sanded the belly of the limb and with in a hr found me shooting it.. The back looked bad so I just paited the back of the tape white.. I realy like this bow because it looks like some that H.Hill made back in his early days...... I hope u lad's injoy the photos

Cody

P.S the bows about 35 to 40 pounds@30.. I wish it would came out in the high 50s as I would use it for hunting....
