Here's a hinge takedown I just finished. 62",50#@27" I'm happy with the way it turned out.Easier to make then a sleeve handle.I made the bow from a stave and cut it in half!!

I've never had any problem with them, made several, one's over 15 years old.Just use the right screws, drill pilot holes. You want to make a bow that doesn't bend in the handle.

Cool bow and very good tiller. I like the idea of the hinge. I have tried other takedown methods but not a hinge.
