glass splinters?
« on: June 16, 2009, 06:17:00 AM »
Was working on my bow and doing some sanding. Forgot to put my gloves on. Little stickers in between my fingers. Not life threatning, but aggervating. Any tips, besides "don't forget your gloves moron". thanks Don

can you use duct tape to pull the splinters out?

You have to either amputate or wait several days for the aggravation to lessen.  Be careful what you scratch while splinters are in your hands, lest you worsen the problem!

Had one stuck through my middle finger last fall.  It was almost four weeks before I got the last piece out and it was about 1/4" long.

Duct tape will get some of the fine ones out but it is better to have a vacuum handy to pull the sanding dust away from your hands and arms while you sand.

I have found that my wifes pantie hose do a wonderful job of removing glass splinters but it really ticks her off.  Hehe .   I also keep a spray bottle full of isopropel alcohal in the shop that I wash the epoxy from my hands.  I can't stand wearing rubber gloves.  It removes the glue nicely and helps keeps festering down.
Now then, get your weapons ~ your quiver and bow ~ and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27.3
