1st longbow build
« on: August 27, 2009, 10:04:00 PM »
First bow off of the completed form will be Helen's, I built myself 4 recurves since July.. here is where I quit today, still have to pencil in the riser. This is a proven design by KennyM and the first bow will be Red Elm Tapers, walnut veneers, walnut riser, white and black phenolic tips...

You are going to like this bow- it is a good design and a shooter- this should be a much easier build for you compaired to the recurves you have been making.

I'm a recurve man, but your right I'll spend some time with one of these, First one is for Helen, if she doesn't like it then it will be mine! should have one built next week. The weekends are not normaly spent in the shop, but it's the first week of classes at UF (go gators)this semester for Helen and I may have some shop time on Sunday to complete the form

Nick, I also prefer Recurves. I want to build a longbow for Helen, She has seen me build 4 recurves for myself. I need to build her a couple of shooters too. Our Deer season is starting in 29 days and I'll not build anything until December, unless it raining.

I have been ready to do the glue up for a few weeks but have been working on some other non archery projects and getting ready for our deer hunting season..My job and my relationship with Helen keep me busy. I may give up an afternoon hunt next week (if raining) and do the glue up...

Does kennym sell template plans for the design?
