Results from Early season Doe hunt in Mi

Hey guys Here are the results of my early season doe hunt last friday! This is my first deer I killed with a self bow that I made out of a tree I cut my self! it is a 42# 63" hickory self bow backed with a strip of burlap. I used a Sitka Spruce shaft and a 125g zwicky broadhead. I hit it quarteing away and made a lucky heart shot. She only went fourty yards. What suprised me was that the arrow penatrated all the way through the deer on a pretty hard angle and I was only shooting 136 feet per second! It still suprises me how lethal a simple self bow can be

Congrats on your doe and especially with your self bow. Who said 136fps wouldn't kill a deer? Pat

Hopefully this will get moved over to the PowWow forum. There is a 2009 hunt thread over there that would fit this perfectly. Congratulations!!!

Soopernate, sorry about that. I just figured since this involved a self bow that guys on this forum helped make with their answers, they might want to see the results!

Sorry..didn't mean to get your hackles up. I should have said that it should be ADDED to that thread as it seemed like a perfect fit. I understand your reasoning for placing it here and applaud your accomplishment.

Awesome! Love the big ol' knot in the limb of your bow, you did some great tillering to get good shooter out of it, and it paid off.

Congrats. Good looking bow and deer. There is nothing like killing a deer with something you made with your own two hands.
