How Close

You have ordered supplies to make a specific range bow.  How close did you come.  Reason for being over or under on weight?  Had to sand sides more to cover where band saw cut inside the lines, Tillering etc.  How close did you come to desired weight.

I've hit it right on and also been off 15#

The first couple off a new design form are educated guesses IMO.

After a few tho,you should get really close.

Walnut and red cedar and probably others will drop bow weight also compared to other woods.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Get a tillering board with a poundage scale. And you can hit it with in a couple of pounds. After you build a few  you can start getting the poundage really close.
I've had people bring me the right splined  raw shafts to build arrows. And wanted a bow  built to a certain poundage.
