jointer blades

I am wondering if anyone knows if the linen phenolic riser accent strips are any easier on jointer blades? I used a glass strip in the t/d recurve I just built and when I went to smooth out the limb pad on the jointer I quickly found out that the glass will ruin a blade very quickly. I should have known better based on how fast a good bandsaw blade is ruined by glass.    If Phenolic is no better would a wood accent strip strengthen the riser close to as much as the glass or phenolic? Ollie, I think phenolic is easier on the blades than glass, but...phenolic is still very hard...and if it were me, I would save those nicely sharpened jointer blades and avoid it.    

Another thing you can do is put the phenolic in the riser on an arc...then when you cut your limb pads and true them up on the jointer it will not interfere with the phenolic.  

Also, I think a strip of wood will strenghthen the riser close to that of any other laminated material (glass or phenolic). (unless you are making an extremely heavy bow..or one with a very thin grip..I think it will be just fine)

NO they are hard on the blade's,4"wide blade and 2" is worn away.

I didn't read  enough into your question. I have went away from phenolic in riser's and went to straight wood.I don't cut the limb's down with a bandsaw,I grind them down to pattern using a table top sander..hope this help's.

Thanks all, I think I am going to make a few t/d longbows and I will try actionwood for the riser  with a wood accent strip. Thanks, Ollie
