untapered laminations

I was wondering if anybody has ever made a laminated bow with limbs that weren't tapered. I think they call it parallel laminations, but I was wondering how they would turn out. I was thinking of makin a 60"bow out of 1/8" strips of paudauk, purple heart, and maple.

yes you can make a bow from just parallels. Do a search on it in this forum as I think someone had just asked this.

on a very short bow, it works well. It will reduce the stacking affect.

I do it quite often, especially when the thickness I'm looking for can be achieved with .050 lams.  I always use .040 glass, so if I'm looking for about.235 in total thickness I'll use 3 ea. .050 lams with the 2 ea .040 fiberglass, add the glue lines, and it comes out about right.

Made alot of flatbows outa parralel lams.  Problem is with my design if I go too short of bow (less than 60") to much stress is put onto the fadeouts creating a hinge.  Now that is with my handle length (16").  If you go with a longer handle it may not be as bad.  And all this has to do with how much R/D in the bow.  Wished I knew how to post pics, it'd help show what I'm trying to explain...........Ray........
