I will get back on the bow once my hands heal up.  while grinding the riser i got fiberglass dust and coco dust in my gloves,  my knuckles have been bleeding and blistered for a few days.  i guess i am one of those people that is pretty sensitive to coco, as the fiberglass dust normally doesn't bother me too much.  next time i will were some nitrile gloves under the rubber ones.

Ok i am back in action.  tips are done, riser is coming along.  cut the window with hacksaw and chisels.  drum sander/drill press for the rough riser shape, then all the hobby rasp.  i am done with the rough shape and am now evening it up with 60 grit.  here is the pics...

these are my best looking tips yet.. (thanks marty!)
they are sealed with superglue hopefully i don't damage them working on the rest of the bow. at least that was the idea.

here is the roughed in riser.

here is a shoot of the bow at brace. it has been a while since i took it to brace so i thought i would get a picture.

current draw weight is 16# @ 24" and smooth to 24"  i am done tapering the limbs so it should come in right there or a bit under.

of course since it has a string on it, and an arrow shelf cut...  i had to shoot it.  it DEAD in the hand.  i really like the limb at once build i think it is responsible for it being so dead with out any work on the tiller.  the 36" bow i made is pretty shocky.

i found the coco at the local exotic wood/boat yard
there was a cart full of scraps for 6.50a BF most of them where about 1"X 2"x 18"  so i grabbed a couple of the most figured pieces. i got some really nice looking stuff!  it was more red to start.  i soaked the tips in acetone for a few hours.  in retrospect i don't think i needed to do that.  i lot of the "red" oil came out of the wood. the riser overlay was wrapped in paper towls then soaked with acetone then wrapped in plastic for a few hours. it retained a bit more color then the tips.

she is done here are the pics.  i might go back and fix a few of the imperfections in can see, then again i doubt anyone but me will pick them out.

so what do you guys think?  i like the limb at once. it takes longer but i think the product is better.  it could use more coco in the riser...  but thats just because coco is amazing.  this one came in right at weight the first try.  i am happy about that...

considering making this same bow in 62" NTN 2" at the fades.  because it is autocad i can just scale up the design.

thanks for reading along! hope you enjoyed.

That's a hell of a good looking bow. Fantastic work Russel. I can't see any bad spots or imperfections. I hope the next one I'm building turns out like that.
