2-ton epoxy for backing.

I have some 2-ton epoxy and a sheet of fiberglass cloth that you get in the automobile section of walmart. It is already bought and paid for, mind you for different reasons.
Can I use that combination to finish a red oak board bow? If not, why?s
I have seen

already, but it has been a year. Just thought I would revisit.

I dont think the epoxy will hold up to bending to well.

If the stave needs a backing, brown paper bag and TB glue would be as effective as epoxy and fiberglass for holding it together. Neither will give any extra performance. Pat

I tried using epoxy twice in the past six months. I've used one of the best grades availabile. Both times the epoxy failed. I'm verry disappointed! It might be all my fault but I'll never use it again. That stuff is great for boat building or car repair but I'll keep it off my bows.

Epoxy is really great stuff for filling voids, it cannot BE the void.

Thanks everyone. I will try the paper bag and TB2 trick. I have been warned time and time again about red oak, but it is available, so I use it.
