I hadn't checked in lately and was very pleased to see so many good ideas on this thread. Thank you everyone!

I am making arrows for my son for Christmas and am going all out. Footings, ten inch taper, dying and burning the fletching myself. The only thing I didn't do is compress the shafts. The first dozen will be expensive because of all the equipment I've had to buy. I was hoping to save a little by making my own cresting machine.

Heck, I made mine from a Sewing Machine Motor with a Dimmer Switch and a Bohning Rubber Chuck attached to the Shaft of the Motor. A V-Block at the Point End and Another V-Block Between the Motor and the Cresting Area. Worked Great! I Bought a Phillips, but would Rather have a SpinRite Crester!! That Crester is THE BOMB!!
