You'd better watch it getting into that osage, You'll be looking at every tree you see trying to figure out if is osage and wanting to cut it down so it'll dry quicker. LOL

 Post some pics here and lets see what you got and hear some plans and see some shavings. you'll fall in love with it I'm sure.

Well I have tried to post pics before and I couldnt do it right. I Have it still in a big stave that can probably get 3 staves out of it and I would be willing to get rid of one of the staves.

I like that old wood even though there is a lot of work to dig down to a good ring. It is much more stable and I believe livelier than green cut wood no matter how dry. Old wood like that will even split along a spring ring for a belly stave sometimes. If you split that log on the big crack (first photo) I bet it will then split on the growth ring crack that goes from the bottom of the pic up to the big crack. It may even split clean and leave you with a solid chased ring. Good luck with that fine wood.
