My first bow...
« on: January 13, 2010, 11:12:00 PM »
Finally, I got the pics here, hopefully. These are the pics of my first bow, that I made my oldest son who was almost five at the time. He is now nine, and has outgrown it. Bow was built in 2005.

Now, my four year old son claims it as his. He told me he killed a moose with it today. We live in West Virginia. lol.

The bow is of osage orange, with an osage riser glued on. It was made from a stave in what my father-in-law was cutting on his woodmizer sawmill. Yea, life is good for the woodworker who has an in-law with a sawmill.lol.

I forgot to add, the bow is 32" tip to tip. I don't know the poundage or the draw length.

I also just started my first board bow today. Post to follow.

Congrats on your first bow. Be ready to build lots more. That boy will need quite a few in the next few years so you might as well get him building bows too.

I love it when somebody jumps in the pool and makes something out of a stick.  Too much fear bein expressed on some posts.  Knots, cracks, twists - you learn from all of them.

If I can do it...  and I'm all thumbs, cross-eyed, and low in the IQ department... ANYBODY can.
